A native of the UK, Nigel Cameron has spent much of his professional life in the United States.
Former President and CEO of the Center for Policy on Emerging Technologies in Washington, DC, he was also recently Fulbright Visiting Research Chair in Science and Society at the University of Ottawa, and earlier a Research Professor and Associate Dean at the Illinois Institute of Technology.
Professor Cameron has been a featured speaker at a range of international events, including the Aspen Ideas Festival and Global Health Forum, the Science Prepcon for Rio+20, the Champalimaud Foundation conference on the world in 100 years, the International Content Summit, TEDx Port Alegre, the World Healthcare and Innovation Technology Summit, the STARS emerging leaders conference, and most recently a UN Human Rights Council expert consultation on AI and Human Rights.
He convened the first Washington, DC conference on the implications of the Internet of Things, and has chaired a series of subsequent IoT events in DC and Brussels, as well as the Dubai GITEX and Future Tech conferences, and the European Identity and Cloud conference.
He has testified to the European Commission’s Group on Ethics, as well as committees of both US Houses of Congress, on issues including nanotechnology and the security implications of new technologies. He has also been a member of US Government delegations to the UN General Assembly and UNESCO, and was appointed to four terms as a commissioner of the US National Commission for UNESCO.
He has written and edited a number of books on the impact of emerging technologies, including Nanoscale: Issues and Perspectives (Wiley) and Will Robots Take Your Job? A Plea for Consensus (Polity/Wiley) (shortly to appear in Mandarin). He also recently served as first tech editor of the UK journalistic start-up UnHerd.
He is currently a non-executive director of a start-up working on air-generated water, has been an adviser to various businesses including Constellation Research and Giesecke & Devrient, and three times executive-in-residence at Wolfsberg, the UBS executive development centre. He is also a committee member of HumanIN, a start-up advisory on the human dimensions of AI.
He is a graduate of Cambridge and Edinburgh universities, and the Edinburgh Business School.

For 4 years, Bertram has been leading a data-driven team to find ways to unlock the potential of Data for Daimler Trucks engineering and has been an ambassador of digital transformation and focus on data.
In recent projects, Bertram has been focused on creating business value by providing “insights for everyone” and successfully rolling-out easy access tools. These tools don’t require data science, data engineering or programming skills, bringing the right questions it the only requirement.
Bertram supports the vehicle and powertrain organization of Daimler Trucks in their respective strategic projects to reduce variants and complexity without impacting the ability to deliver the exact right product to every customer.
Data scientist, Dutch Railways
Isabel Bevort graduated from the University of Amsterdam with a MSc Mathematics degree before joining NS as an IT trainee. During this time, she has worked in Data & Analytics and the research department of NS Stations (Dutch Railways).
After her traineeship she went on working at the latter as a data scientist/researcher. The projects she has worked on include descriptive and predictive analyses, such as predicting crowds at the Schiphol Airport train station and analysing pedestrian flows inside Utrecht Central station to optimize cleaning schedules.
With a passion for clear communication of the information that data provides, she has transformed the knowledge she obtained from a training by Stephen Few into several workshops and presentations to introduce the concepts to a wider NS-audience.
Lead Data Scientist, Albert Heijn
Sanne works as a lead data scientist for forecasting at Albert Heijn. Together with a team of data scientists and engineers, she works on providing accurate and relevant forecasts throughout the organization.
Prior to Albert Heijn, Sanne worked as a data science consultant at Macaw. She worked with clients in various industries, inventing, designing and building real-world applications of advanced analytics and machine learning. Before that, she worked as a data analyst/scientist for Eneco group, focusing on data management and predictive maintenance.
Sanne holds a PhD in Neurosciences from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. She has always been passionate about data, statistics and math. She is driven to create solutions that are understood and trusted and add value to the organization.
Head of Data Science, Royal Mail
Katherine James is the Head of Data Science at Royal Mail, where she leads a team of 20 data scientists working on a wide variety of projects including forecasting, vehicle route optimization, workload planning and AI for operational managers.
Her background is in statistical genetics and she completed a PhD in the genetics of HIV-2 infection at Oxford in 2014. Following a short Post-Doc in Kumamoto in Southern Japan, she returned to the UK and entered industry as a data scientist in the Know Me team at British Airways. She was responsible for building a recommender system for email personalization which went through successful A/B testing and formed the basis for destination personalization to over 4 million customers.
She has been at Royal Mail since 2016 and alongside her day job is a passionate advocate for women in Tech, mentoring several early career data scientists and regularly blogging and speaking about how to increase diversity in tech teams at internal and external events.
Senior Product Owner, a.s.r. analytics lab
After finishing her PhD at the Utrecht University in 2015, Sarah started working for a.s.r. as a marketing intelligence analyst. Since then, she has held different functions within a.s.r. all related to data innovation and machine learning.
In 2018, Sarah set up the a.s.r. analytics lab, the company’s centre of excellence for machine learning and artificial intelligence. She currently works together with her fast-growing team on accelerating the use of algorithms for a.s.r’s different operations.
Sarah has a keen interest in everything related to agile leadership, data innovation, automation and machine learning.
Product Owner Data, Nationale-Nederlanden
Sébastien Oldenbroek is Product Owner Data at the Dutch insurance company Nationale Nederlanden – Non Life within the NN-Group. He has been leading several teams that work on the Non-Life Data Warehouse since 2019. Dating back to 2015, he held various roles, from IT Management Trainee to Data Quality Officer.
How did a Chemistry graduate end up in IT? He likes the complexity of IT, especially data, thinking in different layers and abstract models and combining it with business sense.

Dani Marouane works as a digital segment architect at the IT&IM department of Damen Shipyards Group, the Netherlands.
He graduated in 2011 from the Moroccan Aviation international Academy as embedded systems engineer and 2014, from EMLyon Business School as a digitalization engineer. His main specialties are big data, real-time processing, analytics and IoT.
He joined Damen Shipyards in 2015 working on multiple innovation projects before designing and realizing the Damen Digital platform, implementing a DevOps structure with automation and continuous delivery implementations among other Big Data projects.
