Key barriers for extending PSN adoption have been identified as timing and also return on investment across authorities.
Director of ICT for Kent County Council, Peter Bole, has said that the council had sought to ensure a continuation of its current regional network strategy that could be helped by refreshing the technology and then underpinning it.
“KPSN has always been based on a managed service solution and the new contract does not alter that model,” he said.
“The end of the original KPSN contract term has provided the opportunity to retest the market, introduce newer technologies and drive further value through competitive tender.”
