Protected-Networks and 8MAN named finalists in 2012 Computing Security Awards

8MAN has also been nominated in two categories in the Windows ITPro Community choice awards 2012.

London, 26th September 2012: 8MAN, the flagship solution from Berlin based GmbH has been shortlisted for 2012 Computing Security Awards in ‘New Product of the Year’ and ‘Best Identity and Access Management Solution’ categories. The achievements of the business have been further recognised by protected-networks being shortlisted for the ‘Security Company of the Year’ Award.

Furthermore, 8MAN has also been nominated for the Window IT Pro Community Choice Award in the ‘Best Active Directory & Group Policy’ and ‘Best Auditing & Compliance Product’ categories. Recognition on this forum as one of the front runners in these categories further strengthens the company’s position as a key player in the data security ecosystem.

8MAN is unique access rights management solutions, which assists organisations using file servers, Active Directory and SharePoint to easily view, manage, provision and delegate access rights. This in turn allows organisations to trust not only the integrity, security and confidentiality of their business information but also the people who access that information.

8MAN enables organisations to easily and transparently answer:

• Which users have access to what data?
• Who can access a given directory or SharePoint web application?
• Who made which changes to user permissions?
• Who touched which data and what did they do with it (delete, modify, copy, move, etc.)?

The ease of operability of 8MAN ensures that even data owners with no specific IT knowledge are able to assign and manage privileges. The clear presentation of privileges makes it easy for administrators to detect and fix configuration errors or to correct inappropriately assigned privileges. Because 8MAN also analyses and displays group structure correlations, it makes it easy to resolve duplicate or conflicting privileges.

“8MAN assists clients in effectively managing roles and permissions across organisation. Knowing which employees have access to which files, strengthens the process for reviewing and assigning access rights.” – Stephan Brack, CEO protected-networks.

The Computing Security Awards are in their third year and recognise the products, services and companies that have been most impressive at protecting organisations from IT security threats. The ceremony will be held on 8th November in London, UK. For more details about the 2012 Computing Security Awards and the list of Finalists in all categories, click here.
