Dr Nedim Dedic

Lead Enterprise Architect, Salzburg AG for Energy, Transport and Telecommunications

Nedim is an international expert and author of numerous scientific and white papers in the fields of Data Strategy, Data Analysis, Data Architecture, Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing, Enterprise Reporting and Big Data. He has extensive international experience, having worked on large scale projects with the leading European companies, such as SPAR and Raiffeisen, covering industry sectors of banking, retail, advertising, media and NGO. He is passionate about identifying and promoting digital transformation possibilities and data-related innovations, trends and emerging technologies. Knowledge transfer to and consulting of technical and business departments are the aspects of the job that he enjoys.

Nedim holds PhD in Computing Science with the focus on Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing. He also holds two master’s degrees – one in Computer Science and one in Geoinformatics. He is Professional Member of BCS – The Chartered Institute for IT, and a member of Austrian Computer Society (ÖCG). In addition of being registered as Chartered Engineer by UK Engineering Council, he is also Certified Data Protection Offices according to the EU GDPR.

Frank Henze

Frank has 20 years’ industry experience in creating enterprise software. Frank was involved in the first open source versions of Nutch and Hadoop. As a consultant he was in charge of the first distributed and scalable implementations with the 101tec, e.g. EMI Music, Krugle and a major telecommunications provider.

In 2009, Frank became a founding member of Datameer Inc in California, which had the vision to create the first end-user application for big data analysis based on Hadoop. At Datameer, he led the product management team for many years. Today, Frank is responsible for the Innovation Lab at Datameer as Vice President of Innovation. He also accompanies the function of Managing Director of the German subsidiary Datameer GmbH.

Vijay Pravin Maharajan

Data Analytics Expert, Siemens

Vijay Pravin is a Data Analytics Expert at Siemens – where he focuses on leveraging the opportunities of analytical and customer solutions for mobility division. Prior to joining Siemens, Vijay was assisting the Audit team at Volkswagen, and as a Data Scientist at Telefonica in Customer Intelligence unit. For the last couple of years, he has spoken at various events on a university level on topics like Analytics, Data Services, On Setting goals, etc.
Vijay Pravin holds an MSc in Electrical Engineering from the Technical University of Munich. He is also closely followed by a lot of people on the social media platform LinkedIn for his activities on it.

Marin Strazanac

Enterprise Architect, Raiffeisenbank Austria d.d. Zagreb

Marin has been an IT leader in the banking industry for over 27 years. Prior to his position as Enterprise Architect for Raiffeisenbank, he obtained a variety of IT roles that have allowed him to understand and gain experience using a variety of software and methodologies. His current responsibilities at Raiffeisenbank are tightly connected with digital transformation of the Bank, performing one of leading roles. He is enterprise architect and product owner of the new platform and supervisor of scrum implementation. During his professional life he is learning all the time, introducing new technologies and methodologies, and restructuring processes to build better business practices.

Jörg Meiners

Data Architect, Denodo Technologies

Jörg Meiners is a Data Architect at Denodo Technologies. He advises companies in Germany, Austria and Switzerland (DACH region) on data management and in particular on data integration in heterogeneous landscapes. He pays special attention to the practical benefits and agility of integration architectures. The graduate physicist began his IT career in 1994 with positions at SAP, Sun Microsystems and Oracle. During his career, he has held positions in software development, project implementation and management.

Bernd Kälber

Program Manager Advanced Analytics & Artificial Intelligence – Digital@Finance, E.ON SE.

Bernd Kälber is currently Program Manager Artificial Intelligence & Advanced Analytics in the CFO division of E.ON SE. In this position he is responsible for the evaluation and operational implementation of concepts of Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Analytics.

As a theoretical physicist and in his professional career, Quantitative Business Modelling plays a central role. To that he has held various positions in the financial sector and in the energy industry.

In the financial sector, he was Head of Market Data Management and Vice President for Risk Management Services. For international energy companies he was responsible for projects for the integrated economic steering of trading and generation as well as for the quantitative analysis of complex investment projects. Arnon Shimoni

Product Marketing and Solutions Architect, SQream

Arnon Shimoni is a product marketing manager and solutions architect at SQream, based out of Copenhagen. Arnon began as a programmer working on the development SQream DB’s core and has shifted to overseeing SQream DB’s implementation for customers in a variety of industries. Arnon is a keen technologist, interested in parallel computing, GPUs, aviation, and communication and information systems.

Vidya Munde-Mueller

Mona Szyperski

Co-founder, Women Techmakers Frankfurt/ Rhein-Main

Mona Szyperski is responsible for managing Marketing & PR at Acellere, a technology start-up based in Frankfurt, Germany. Mona is an experienced Marketer with a strong background in networking, personal branding, events and social media. She is a strong advocate for women in the digital industry with a focus on championing women in IT.

Mona co-founded the regional chapter of Digital Media Women (#DMW) in Cologne in 2012, as well as the regional chapter of Women Techmakers (#NeverNetworkAlone) in Frankfurt in 2017. Apart from this, she co-organized Frankfurt’s first TEDxWomen event in 2017. She is an experienced speaker and moderator and has shaped a variety of conferences, workshops and meet-ups over the past decade.

Mona studied at the University of Bonn (Germany) and at the University of Turku (Finland). She holds a master’s degree in American Studies and Communication Studies.

Marie-Kristin Vuzem

Strategist, WIEN NORD + NOW

As a digital marketer, strategist and student of computer science, specializing in data science, Marie-Kristin Vuzem is able to combine and connect marketing and IT.

If she had been asked 10 years ago if she would ever be working in this field, she would probably have laughed and denied it. Out of interest and curiosity, she originally decided to consolidate herself in marketing. Her marketing experience was gained during her time at the telephone book publisher Herold Business Data. Initially working as a media consultant, she continued her education in digital marketing and began her part-time studies in information, media and communication.

Although still a student, she started working at REWE where she was jointly responsible for setting up the marketing department of the online shop “Weinfreunde” in Austria. Especially in the area of eCommerce, it quickly became clear that it is important to understand technology – especially when it comes to internal communication, strategic orientation and planning. For this reason, she decided to start a master’s degree in Data Science, currently writing her thesis on “Marketing meets Data Science in terms of predictive behavioural targeting”.

She is actively working as a strategist at WIEN NORD+ NOW in Vienna, where she can apply her experience and know-how in a wide range of areas, especially digital transformation.

Aisling Connolly

Aisling is an Irish mathematician and cryptographer based in Paris.

Aisling has written and co-authored several research papers in the areas of symmetric cryptography, public key cryptography, digital signatures, post-quantum cryptography, and privacy.

Ultimately, her goal is to continue to tie the theoretical questions of life to the practical needs of society.

Kristina John

Kristina John, Drs, Diploma in Statistics, Big Data and Analytics Specialist at Hoy, has worked in the fields of analytics, data warehousing and product development since July 2017. Before this, she spent six years researching in the fields of statistics and machine learning.

After finishing her diploma in 2010 at the University of Mannheim and University of Ottawa, she worked for three years as a PhD candidate at the University of Amsterdam, continued at the University of Mannheim and was a visiting scholar at the National Centre for Supercomputing Applications at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign.

Prior to joining Ford in Germany, Kasper worked as a data scientist in the Netherlands for T-Mobile (telecom), Meeùs (insurance) and RTL (media). At the companies, he worked on a variety of topics like CRM, churn reduction, segmentation, look-alike modeling.

Isabel Bevort

Isabel graduated at the University of Amsterdam with a MSc Mathematics degree before joining NS as an IT trainee. During this time, she has worked at Data & Analytics and the research department of NS Stations. After her traineeship she went on working at the latter as a data scientist/researcher. The projects she has worked on include descriptive and predictive analyses, such as predicting crowds at the Schiphol Airport train station, and analysing pedestrian flows inside Utrecht Central station to optimize cleaning schedules. With a passion for clear communication of the information that data provides, she has transformed the knowledge she obtained from a training by Stephen Few into several workshops and presentations to introduce the concepts to a wider NS-audience.

Martijn Scheele

Martijn Scheele introduced Internet services and automated decision making at Volkswagen Pon Financial Services and Advanced Analytics at the Dutch Tax Authority before he joined the Dutch Railway Company (NS) in April 2016 to introduce the subject over there. As manager Data & Analytics he is responsible for the merger of different BI business units to one strong department for both BI and Advanced Analytics. Spilios Tzouras

Professor Marc Salomon

Julio Peironcely

Caroline Carruthers

Group Director for Data Management, Lowell Group and Co-author of ‘The Chief Data Officer's Playbook’

Caroline is a ridiculous optimist whose natural curiosity never stops. She is also the first Group Director for Data Management for the Lowell Group and previously was Network Rail’s first Chief Data Officer but has been a data cheerleader for more years than she can remember. Caroline is a strong advocate of ‘getting the basics right’ and the KISS principle, despite being a complete geek when it comes to any form of technology. As a trustee for CILIP (Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals) she champions the growing professionalism of the data and information-related disciplines so that we can all head towards data nirvana a bit quicker.

Caroline draws on experience from a varied background covering CIO/CTO roles through to running large-scale complex change programmes. It was the recognition that ‘everything we do is fuelled by data and information’ that drove her down the CDO route and she now describes herself as a Data Cheerleader.

Peter Jackson

Chief Data Officer, Southern Water and Co-author of ‘The Chief Data Officer's Playbook’

Peter is Chief Data Officer at Southern Water and is tasked with developing and delivering a data strategy for the organisation.  Southern Water supplies 524 million litres of drinking water from 89 water treatment works along 13,793 kilometres of water mains to customers’ taps.  It also treats and recycles 718 million litres of wastewater at 365 treatment works, after it is pumped through a network of 2,375 pumping stations and 39,600 kilometres of sewers each day.

Previously Peter was Head of Data at The Pensions Regulator (TPR), which regulates the pensions and automatic enrolment in the UK. Before joining TPR Peter spent 17 years providing data strategy consultancy across the not for profit sector, financial services and FMCG, working with large multi-national organisations and blue chip brands. Peter is a specialist in Data Strategy, Data Technologies, Master Data Management Strategies, Data Governance Frameworks, GDPRand Data Science Strategies. Peter is the co-author of ‘The Chief Data Officer’s Playbook’ published by Facet November 2017.

Alejandra Leon

Director, Lead Architect Digital, Architecture & Emerging Technologies, Philips IT

Alejandra works as Director, Lead digital architect in the Architecture & Emerging Technologies department, Philips IT. Alejandra develops digital architectures for CRM, DMP, NLP and several other digital marketing projects; her focus is to develop digital architectures that can help Philips respond effectively to customer demands.

Originally, from Peru, she is also an Australian citizen; she gained a bachelor degree in Systems and Software engineering at the Australian National University, Canberra. A few years later, she completed her Masters in Business, specializing in Marketing, at the University of Adelaide.

She has lived in The Hague for several years, working at Royal Dutch Shell, Inter IKEA and Philips. In 2014, she led a team to win first place at Startup Weekend Eindhoven with VRroom, an app that utilizes Google Cardboard to create 3D virtual reality showrooms for Do-It-Yourself stores.

Aart Labee

Aart Labee is Global Director BI & Analytics at FrieslandCampina, where he has been in a leadership role since 2016. He is tasked with the implementation of BI and analytics capabilities across multiple disciplines throughout the global FrieslandCampina organization (a leading Dairy multinational with revenue of $13 billion, active in 40 countries with 22,000 employees and 30+ brands selling to consumers and B2B). His responsibilities range from defining business needs, implementing solid data architecture, data warehousing, developing and delivery of Business Intelligence & Analytics capabilities – on both operational, tactical and strategic levels.

Aart has 18 years hands-on business experience leading international Pricing, Strategy, Store network optimization and Business Intelligence & Analytics teams. Previously, he was with McDonald’s for 18 years, starting in the Netherlands and afterwards within the European organization.

Maarten van der Veen

Maarten van der Veen is the founder of 510, the data initiative of the Netherlands Red Cross. 510 aims to make humanitarian aid faster and more cost effective by using data. Maarten has a degree in Artificial Intelligence, and has experience in a number of humanitarian disasters, such as Typhoon Haiyan (2013, Philippines), Malawi Floods (2015) and Hurricane Irma (2017, St. Maarten).

Michiel van Dongen

Senior Advisor Data Innovation and IoT, Koninklijk Nederlands Meteorologisch Instituut

Michiel is a senior advisor at the KNMI Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute. His background is in data analytics, applied earth science, and technical and program management. He has broad experience in applied science in entrepreneurial, business and public sector environments in different countries. He spent a total of 11 years overseas and enjoys meeting and working with people from all backgrounds and walks of life.

Prior to working at KNMI, he spent half a year at a leading business school gathering a global network of business professionals and upgrading his skill set. Since then, he has pivoted his career towards helping society understand the challenges and opportunities brought by our physical environment, climate change and the renewable energy transition. His focus is on using data science, citizen science, Internet of Things and organisational behaviour as the principal drivers for achieving impact.

Cosmando Byarugaba

Program Lead, Big Data Program, Air France-KLM

Cosmando Byarugaba is Big Data Program Lead at Air France KLM, where he has been leading the joint program since 2014. He has been tasked with the definition customer data strategy and implementation of the program including operationalization throughout the customer journey. He is based at both Amsterdam and Paris Head Offices and previously worked as Regional Commercial Director for Air France KLM in West Africa region.

Cosmando holds a Master’s Degree in Economics with many years of business and leadership experience in Pricing, Revenue Management, Business Development, Marketing, Sales and Digital line of businesses. He is also responsible for leading an organizational transformation program of Air France KLM cross functional data teams in multiple locations.

Naser Ali

Head of Product Marketing, Hitachi Vantara

Naser Ali is the Head of Solution Marketing for what was Pentaho and now part of Hitachi Vantara. Naser joined Pentaho after twenty years working for big data, cloud, middleware, data centre management, storage and power management companies where he handled marketing and strategic planning. Prior to that, Naser was a research engineer for GE Lighting. Naser has an honours degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of York, a master’s degree in Optoelectronics from the University of Strathclyde, a professional postgraduate diploma from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, and is a member of the Institute of Electrical Engineers. He is based in London, where he lives with his wife and two children.

Tamas Erkelens

Program Manager Data Innovation, City of Amsterdam

Tamas Erkelens is a Program Manager of Data Innovation at the Municipality of Amsterdam. He aims to add public value using data analysis. Previously, Tamas graduated with honors as Research Master of Quantitative Analysis and has worked for ING as a Product Owner. With a background in academia and the private sector, he aims to open Amsterdam to partners solving urban challenges. In his spare time he is a co-founder of Data Mission, a foundation connecting big data analysts to Mission driven organizations.

Satya Singh

Senior Product Manager, Expedia

Satya Singh is a Senior Product Manager at Expedia. Satya has over ten years of experience within business and IT solving data related problems. He has worked in various fields – starting from e-commerce, product and digital to the realms of data and analytics. Satya specializes in developing data and product strategy roadmaps to make sure big data means big insights. He is passionate about solving the big data problem in the world of the Internet of Things (IoT). He currently focuses on understanding how the travel industry is transforming with data. Satya is passionate about bridging the gap between big data technologies and business – he is currently working with various acquisition marketing channels in the travel industry to re-define how data products can help the business to make effective decisions.

Pascha Iljin

Manager FP&A Predictive Analytics and Big Data, AkzoNobel

Pascha is Manager Predictive Analytics within Group Financial Planning and Analysis at AkzoNobel. With a team of Data Scientists and in close collaboration with Business and Functions, they define, develop, and deliver improvements to the process of planning, budgeting, and forecasting.

Prior to joining AkzoNobel, Pascha worked for 10 years within ORTEC Consulting, supporting multinational companies in the area of Analytics. Before that, he worked within the R&D department of Océ (a Canon company).

Pascha holds a Master’s degree in Mathematics from Belarusian State University and has a Master’s of Technological Design degree from the Eindhoven University of Technology.
