Discussed at the pseict conference held on 5th November 2013, many questions were brought to light surrounding IT in the public and private sector. Where we now and where are we going?
Developments have begun, yet we are going to see an intense concentration on the expansion of how enterprises and governments’ will be using technology to enhance the customer experience; enabling an innovative approach to future changes.
The exhibitors at the conference demonstrated the amount of new technologies available to empower private and public sectors to think about the customer experience.
There were some suggestions that:
- global 4G LTE wireless service,
- availability of machine-to-machine (M2M) solutions “as a service”,
- strong security.
were the key issues that presented hurdles in the past, stopping the developments of technological enhancement.
As discussed in yesterday’s blog, another hurdle has been the shortage of skilled manpower to manage these systems within in the sectors. It is only a matter of time (unless action is taken) before we hear of some serious targeted attacks that could result in legal claims against an organisation.
Michael T. Maiorana, senior vice president of public sector markets, Verizon Enterprise Solutions stated “Through the pragmatic adoption of IT, government has the opportunity to meet the challenges of stagnant budgets, aging IT systems, skilled staffing shortages and greater demand for enhanced services.”
Cloud computing (G Cloud) has enabled change in the economics and sustainability of Information and communication technology. Enterprise could hosting platforms allows migration of a whole system to the cloud allowing you to integrate virtualisation into your existing solution.
Our exhibitor’s technologies each have specific directives depending on your needs but the general approach is the same:
- To reduce capital expenditure with less hardware and software and upgrade costs.
- Installing a forceful infrastructure which meets your business needs
- Massive increased protection against Data loss, viruses.
- Performance increase as a result of sophisticated managed hosting solutions.
- Business reassurance.
- Firewalls protecting every server.
- Reduce Carbon Footprint.
So where are we now?
We are in the process of global change regarding IT management.
Where are we going?
Into the abyss of technical empowerment to gain control of IT systems and machines, devices and identities.
